September 2024: Food Service Director/Cook
Dixon Public School is seeking a highly motivated, team centered person to become the Food Service Director/Cook. This person will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of providing high quality and healthy meals to our amazing students. The right candidate will plan, prep, maintain, serve and supervise the complete breakfast and lunch offerings, and will be an important member of the Dixon Public School administration cabinet team. This is a full time position for each academic year (6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), with potential and flexible hours for each summer period.
Dixon, Montana, is located along the Flathead River on the Flathead Indian Reservation, on Highway 200. The city is about 43 miles north of Missoula, and 36 miles south of Flathead Lake. Dixon is just southeast of the National Bison Range, accessible through Moiese (just under six miles away). A large portion of the 18,500-acre range consists of native Palouse Prairie. Forests, wetlands, and streams are also found here providing a wide range of habitats for wildlife. Elk, deer, pronghorn, black bear, coyote and ground squirrels are just some of the mammals that share the area with 350 to 450 bison and 200 species of birds.
Qualification: Candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalency, previous experience with quality and quantity food preparation, and the ability to efficiently manage time and resources. Candidate must also be able to perform the duties within the district and school board policies, as well as meal program requirements.
Salary: Dependent on experience
Benefits: District housing is currently available at an affordable rate. Also, we offer a competitive insurance plan with options ranging from a standard plan to a high deductible plan or a monthly cash benefit if insured elsewhere. Vacation, Sick and Holiday leave is granted after a 90 probationary period.

The current rate for substitute teachers at Dixon School is $100.00/day (over 4 hours) for certified teachers and $90.00/day for staff not holding a current teaching certificate OR less than 4 hours $60/day for non-certified or $70 day for certified.
Part-time Classified positions are paid by the hour with wage determined on experience.

A fingerprint background check is also required. You can find more information about the process here. Fingerprint cards can be completed at the Polson Police Department (106 First Street East Polson, Montana 59860), Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. They are closed from noon until 1:00 P.M. for lunch. Hours do vary, so we suggest calling to confirm before going to the station (406-883-7301). If you have a current Montana teaching certificate you are not required to submit a new background check until your license renewal is completed.

Any employee of a person or firm holding a contract with the District, if the employee is assigned to the District.
All on-call substitutes (both classified and certified)
Any requirement of an applicant to submit to a fingerprint background check shall be in compliance with the Volunteers for Children Act of 1998 and applicable federal regulations. If an applicant has any prior record of arrest or conviction by any local, state, or federal law enforcement agency for an offense other than a minor traffic violation, the facts must be reviewed by the Superintendent, who shall decide whether the applicant shall be declared eligible for appointment or employment or selection to be placed on the on-call substitute list. Arrests resolved without conviction shall not be considered in the hiring/selection process unless the charges are pending.
