About the Federal 21st Century Grant Program:

The federally-funded 21st Century Community Learning Centers supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children. As well as helping students meet state and local standards in core academic subject areas, such as reading and math, these programs held during nonschool hours can offer a broad array of enrichment activities such as socio-emotional learning, technology, recreation, and educational services to families of participating children.

The programs are designed to be a local collaborative effort where schools, community-based organizations, towns, counties, and business partners come together to provide academic support, enrichment, and a safe, healthy environment during non-school hours for children at the elementary, middle and high school level.

About Dixon's 21st Century Program:

Our new Coordinator is Sarah BigSam. This is her 2nd year at Dixon School. Last year she taught 4th grade, library, and computer class. This year, Mrs. BigSam is eager to run After School Club and get to know ALL the students at our little school. Her assistants are Ms. Chenoweth, Miss Annie, Tricia, Ms. Haynes, and Mrs. Williams, who all help make After School Club a fun and welcoming place!

Dixon's After School Club meets from 3:30pm to 5:30pm, Monday through Thursday in the Community Room and includes a variety of exciting and fun-filled activities!

Our program is always looking for volunteers in the community who would like to interact with our students and help them develop a variety of skills. If you have a special talent you would like to share or you just have some spare time and enjoy helping out, we want you at our school! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact us.
